Cllr Rebecca Halifax

Cirencester Park

Rebecca has lived in central Cirencester since 2016, joining Cirencester College as a Governor in December 2018 and the County Council in 2021.

Rebecca has worked in Tech as a freelance project manager for many years, and has three children as well as a demanding rescue cat. In her spare time Rebecca presents a radio show for Cirencester Radio about local issues. Rebecca also works with the local enterprise partnership, GFirstLEP, to run career days in secondary schools to encourage young people to pursue science and technology subjects.

Rebecca’s priorities are:

Improving outcomes for our young people
By providing better access to housing, health services (including mental health provision), leisure activities and employment prospects, especially for young people from vulnerable or low-income situations.

Better road safety
With the help of local residents, Rebecca has already campaigned successfully to improve road safety at the busy Abbey Way/Grove Lane intersection. There are many more places that could be made safer.

Making local government more representative of the residents it serves
County Council can do much better to find the views of local people; its practices need to be dragged into the 21st century so that it does what our residents think is important, including sorting out parking!
