South Cotswolds Liberal Democrats are recruiting this dynamic and fast-paced role in a busy constituency office, working alongside volunteers, councillors and our new MP and her staff.
Job Title: Constituency Organiser
Working for: South Cotswolds Liberal Democrats
Location: Hybrid working. Office location currently in Chippenham, subject to change to a new office within the constituency
Salary: £25,000
Contract: Initial 1-year fixed term contract (3 months’ probation that may be subject to extension)
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, job share and/or flexible working arrangements considered
This exciting position puts you at the centre of planning and delivering political campaigns and developing a range of skills that can be taken into any future workplace.
The South Cotswolds parliamentary constituency is a new one that spans across Gloucestershire and Wiltshire County borders. It includes the towns of Malmesbury, Tetbury, Cirencester, Cricklade, Fairford and Purton and many rural villages. An ideal candidate would be able to independently travel between these places. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know the beautiful Cotswold countryside! Both Gloucestershire and Wiltshire have important local elections in May 2025.
A working week is generally 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work, with time off in lieu as agreed in advance.
Candidates should have the following skills and qualities
- Liberal values
- Communicator - someone that is able to engage with and motivate people with excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised – meticulous attention to detail and timekeeping
- Digital – design skills and confident using digital systems for communications
- Interpersonal - comfortable with relationship building, working collaboratively and able to work independently
- Positive outlook – solution-focused, in a fast-paced environment
- A knowledge of the local area is helpful but not essential
- A political/current affairs interest is helpful but not essential
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
- Literature
- Writing content
- Artworking literature using Affinity Publisher (training provided)
- Organising literature to be professionally printed in-house or by commercial printers
- Preparing for distribution
- Delivery
- Creating and organising a delivery network of volunteers
- Organising and tracking literature distribution to deliverers
- Action Days
- Scheduling action days, choosing where and when to go
- Arranging canvassing sessions
- Making the day engaging for volunteers, creating a sense of comradery
- Volunteer management
- Building relationships with volunteers and finding ways to keep them engaged
- Helping to organise social gatherings and fundraising events
- Admin
- Communicating with local Party officers, councillors, volunteers, members and supporters
- Using Connect, our online database to keep the constituency organised (training provided)
- Provide reports to and attending local Party executive meetings
Other information
- Full driving licence and access to a car is desirable
